Fire my Spirit is a new site-specific installation by Johannesburg spatial-weaver Bev Butkow, commissioned by the University of Johannesburg following Bev's 2025 Artist in Residence award. Measuring over 23 square metres, Bev's extraordinary installation is the outcome of many months of deep engagement not only with space, architecture and the lived environment, but with the writing and thinking of South African Poet Laureate Keorapetse William Kgositsile and the research of Dr Uhuru Phalafala.

Forensis and Forensic Architecture

Developed over four years across Namibia and Germany, this powerful collaborative exhibition explores Germany's colonial legacy (1884-1915), using spatial analysis, satellite imagery, environmental modelling, archival research, and digital reconstruction. Offering an account of ancestral lifeworlds lost to colonial violence, it is apt that the exhibition includes Tuli Mekondjo's powerful Schutztruppe uniform - speaking to the memory of what took place at Shark Island, Lüderitz.
